Job Suitability Assessments for Professional First Responders
Those who choose to serve people and their communities through careers such as Firefighting or Law Enforcement have very demanding, stressful, and responsible positions in our country. I have been involved in assessments of applicants to these positions for agencies in both Wyoming and Colorado since 1990. I have had training, supervision, and experience over the years to facilitate using state of the art assessment procedures and tools so that psychologically qualified applicants are recommended to the departments and those less qualified are called to the attention of the departments, for their review and consideration. Not every person is able to have a successful career in Law Enforcement or Firefighting. I believe our role here is to assess and help agencies accept applicants who have the best chance of successfully operating within the spirit and limits of the law, make good decisions, deal well with the stresses, fulfill their mission, and promote healthy communities while serving and protecting those who need protection.
In my mind, the bottom line is to help match up the right candidates with the right agencies to help assure success – for everyone.
